Put on Your Scariest Face & Visit the Haunted Downtown Metuchen Festival!

Downtown Metuchen is already your one-stop-shop for all of your dining, entertainment, home, and office needs, so it couldn’t get any better than that, right? Wrong! Besides being a happening hub for local businesses to flourish and thrive and people to socialize, Downtown Metuchen is also your destination for spooktacular family fun activities! Get your costumes ready and make room on your calendar to join their community on October 28 from 12:00 to 5:00pm for the annual Halloween Downtownl, and take part in all of the fun and games that they have planned for you and your family!

With so many local businesses participating in the festivities, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out how to participate in everything before the day is over. But fear not, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading to learn about some of the events happening throughout the day, and make a plan with your little ones to do them all!

Supernatural Sweets

You can’t expect to be part of the fun and games on an empty stomach, right? Okay, so candy and sweets don’t really count as “food,” but a little sugar to keep your energy up never hurt anyone! (But don’t worry parents; there are plenty of restaurants serving up real food with great deals, including The Greek on Main and Fresco’s Italian Deli.)

What’s better than chocolate? 2 Chicks with Chocolate! This shop boasts fresh, homemade chocolate daily, and on this special day, they’re offering a spooky painting event for children! Stop in anytime during the day and enjoy some frighteningly refreshing punch while creating a spine-chilling painting made out of colored chocolate!

And if you can’t get enough of that deliciousness, Cai’s Café will have a haunted hot cocoa bar where kids can make their own cups of cocoa while getting a creepy caricature done by the one and only Billy Seccombe!

If you’ve been working up a sweat from running from activity to activity all day, visit What’s the Scoop and slurp down one of their special gummy worm sundaes while getting your face painted, or make your own trick-or-treat bag with your friends from Creative Twist Events at the ice cream shop.

And if you’re in the mood for something savory, Lollipop Land is giving visitors access to their Halloween Popcorn Bar!

Ghoulish Games & Eerie Entertainment

Once you’re all fueled up and ready to take on the day, enter the Metuchen News’ fidget spinner contest that happens every hour, on the hour throughout the day! Challenge your friends and see who can spin the greatest spin.

Or stop by Runner’s High and participate in their spooky Mannequin Challenge. See how long you can stay frozen for, and make sure to put on your scariest face.

Guess how many kernels of candy corn are in the jar and see who has the best pumpkin in show at Metuchen Savings Bank, too. Enter all of these fun contests and games and win some spooky prizes!

If you’re looking for some noncompetitive fun, ArteVino invites visitors to let their creative juices run free in their studio and make some petrifying paintings.

Bring your little ones to Whole Foods Market and let their imaginations go wild as they paint their own pumpkins while digging into some tasty fall treats.

There are all of these activities and plenty more to take part in during Haunted Downtown Metuchen. We could go on and on, but the list would be horrifyingly long! (But you can check out all of the events here) Make sure to visit Downtown Metuchen Alliance’s website and see all of the amazing local businesses participating in this event. So mark your calendars, wipe the cobwebs off your costumes, put on your most ghastly face, and take part in the spookiest event of the year!
