Shop Local

Shop Till You Drop on Small Business Saturday with Downtown Metuchen!

Get your holiday shopping done in a pinch while helping out your community! Skip the hustle and bustle of Black Friday shopping and support Metuchen’s local businesses during Small Business Saturday. On November 25th, enjoy a relaxing and fun-filled day of shopping, eating, and socializing with your family and friends while showing your appreciation for local shop owners and all that they have done for the Metuchen community.

Why Shop Small?

Did you know that shopping at local businesses rather than chains stimulates your town’s economy, helps fund public schools, and supports public works projects? Frequenting small businesses also creates sense of community and provides potential job opportunities for the unemployed. So instead of fighting off the hordes of people in Toys ‘R’ Us, Macy’s, and the like, or giving your money to big conglomerates, shop small this Saturday with Metuchen’s finest.

Your Day of Play Awaits!

Fuel yourself with some caffeine at Metuchen’s KickOff Breakfast the morning of the event as you prepare for a full day of shopping ahead. If you need some extra coffee in your system to make sure that you’re awake for all of the activities, you can snag a free cup from Cai’s Café or Brewed Awakening before the fun begins (only while supplies last)! Make sure to pick up the Small Business Saturday shopping guide that outlines all of the special promotions and deals being featured, too! And if you want a sneak peek at who’s participating so that you can plan your day ahead of time, we’ve outlined it for you below (you can thank us later). Don’t forget to document all of your shopping excursions throughout the day and post them to Instagram using the hashtags #ShopSmall and #ShopMetuchen, because if you don’t take a picture of what you bought, did you really even go shopping?

Please take note that if your littles one are feeling fussy or they just don’t like shopping, feel free to drop them off at one of the many Drop-Off locations before you embark on your shopping journey. Great Play of Metuchen will keep the little ones entertained with fun and games all day as you check everything off your to-do list.

If you’re looking to propose to that special someone, or if you just want to treat yourself to a little bling-bling, A&J Jewelers is marking some of their prices down by 50%! Or if you’re looking for unique antique, women’s clothing, fragrances, or home accessories, stop by the Brass Lantern for all of your holiday gifting needs (you might even get a door prize out of it!). And if you want to give your little ones something to smile about, stop at Genus Boni and enjoy 20% off selected games and toys. Don’t forget to spread the holiday spirit to your friends and family with Picture Perfect Studios’ great deal on holiday greeting cards!

Now is the time to change up your interior design with a purchase from See-More TV & Appliance! Surprise the whole family with gift that they can share, and get $40 off your purchase of $499 or more, or $80 off your purchase of $1,000 or more! If you want to switch up your home decor even more with new flooring, carpeting, or blinds, Carpet Maven II is providing a 15% discount off your next order with them.

Need a snack break? You can get one slice of pizza, a kid’s sized ice cream, and medium soda for just $3.99 at What’s The Scoop! You could also pop into Hailey’s Harp & Pub to play some games and enjoy $10 off of food orders more than $50. Stop at Fresco’s Deli & Catering and receive coupon for $2 off your next order with a purchase of $10 or more. We haven’t listed out every single deal and company that will be featured on Small Business Saturday (this blog would be a MILE long), but you can check out the complete list here to fully plan out your day!

Don’t Forget the After Party!

Small Business Saturday doesn’t just end at the shopping, either – once you’ve checked everything off your list, you can participate in the Parent Night Out festivities and the After Party! Enjoy the rest of your night out on the town, eating good food, and being in even better company. If you still want to ride out the adult fun for the rest of the night, What’s The Scoop is available as a Drop Off Location for children between 6 and 9:30pm. You can enjoy the last of the festivities with no fuss, and your children will be amused by a plethora of activities, guaranteed.

Don’t all of these deals, activities, shopping, and eating experiences sound WAY better than any Black Friday shopping experience ever could? Support your local community this Saturday by shopping small, and give back to the town that keeps on giving. Metuchen awaits and welcomes you this Saturday for their Shop Small event!
